Comprehensive package of bespoke power systems for an NHS Hospital

Prism Power provided a comprehensive package of bespoke power systems, including switchgear, generator synchronised control panels and an integrated busbar system.

With over 9,000 staff, St George’s is the largest healthcare provider in southwest London. Their main site in Tooting is one of the country’s principal teaching hospitals. St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of 1.3 million across southwest London.

Prism Power provided a comprehensive package of bespoke power systems. These included the supply and installation of switchgear and generator synchronised control Panels and to integrate EMS (Energy Managment System), new generators and replacement of existing package sub-stations.

Prism Power also supplied and installed an integrated busbar system both internal and external between the generators and transformers via load centres to the client’s existing switchgear.

Key project obstacles were:

• Ensuring hospital could function as normal throughout delivery and installation

• Works with new generation plant.

• Maintain back-up services to critical plant throughout installation.

• DNO/Client G99 integration witnessed approval.

• Integration of BMS (Building Management System) and EMS.

In depth surveys of the existing hospital infrastructure were undertaken in order to produce method of sustaining critical services with generator back-up at all times during works.

The design engineering team then worked on the production of 3D drawings for builders’ work co-ordination, both internal and external.
